Clubs & Performing Arts

A musical ensemble that combines singing, choreographed dance and storytelling. High school girls who are interested must audition for the group to be considered. Contest and performances begin in February and runs through March.

Students will perform choreographed dances as a team to showcase their skills in a variety of settings such as halftime performances at sports events, competitions, pep rallies and assemblies.

South Side offers three levels of Jazz:

Intro to Jazz: Introductory club to learn jazz basics; this group will perform once in May.

Jazz Combo: Selective small jazz ensemble; performs at concerts, ISSMA Jazz and some jazz festivals.

Jazz Ensemble: Large jazz band; performs at concerts, ISSMA Jazz and some jazz festivals.

South Side theatre program allows students to explore various aspects of theatre such as acting, directing, stage production and design. Our program can be an academic subject, an extracurricular activity, or both, involving performances, plays and musicals in the fall and spring.

Marching band is a competitive instrumental ensemble that performs at select football games and competitions on Saturdays in September and October. Students often perform alongside the color guard team.

South Side Archers partner with Wayne Generals to perform in competitions and school games using flags, rifles, sabers and dance to visually enhance music. Color guard is often performed alongside the marching band.

Color guard can also compete independently in the winter season (called winter guard), performing in indoor venues to recorded music.

Students practice and compete in 'Jeopardy' like question and answer competitions with subjects such as math, science, social studies, English and fine arts.

Organize/run events to raise money & food for Miss Virginia's Food Pantry. Profits raised reach year during this food drive helps families in our local community.

Students compete in teams or individually in popular video games across genres such as multiplayer online battle arenas (MOBAs), first-person shooters (FPS), sports simulation and strategy games.

An extracurricular organization for students interested in the French language and cultures. It offers opportunities to explore and celebrate the language, traditions and heritage of French-speaking countries. Last year's French Club students had the opportunity to take a trip to Paris!

Key Club is a student-led organization that provides its members with opportunities to perform service, build character and develop leadership. Key Club is the oldest and largest community service program for high school students.

Section K is in charge of organizing the South Side student section - organizing themes for athletic events and spirit days to increase school pride.

Archer Student Council is in change of organizing prom, pep rallies, spirit days, homecomings and making decisions on behalf of your class.
