South Side's Manufacturing, Engineering, Technology & Trades pathways prepare students for high-demand careers that require technical skills, creative problem-solving and hands-on experience. 

Interior Design

The Interior Design pathway teaches students how to create and manage indoor spaces by combining creative design skills with technical know-how and business basics. Through hands-on projects and technical instruction, students gain practical experience with space planning, material selection and design analysis. This pathway prepares students for further study and a wide range of careers in interior design, interior architecture and architectural design.

Digital Media

Interested in audio and video production for radio, television or digital media? This pathway teaches students the skills needed for audio production, on-air broadcasting and digital content creation. Students gain hands-on experience with recording, editing and sound design, along with techniques used in radio and streaming platforms.

In addition, students explore the full video production process from message development and directing to operating cameras, video switchers and character generators. This pathway prepares students for careers in media production, broadcasting and digital communications.

Smart Manufacturing 

Smart Manufacturing (also called Industry 4.0) teaches students how modern factories use new technology, allowing machines to talk to each other through the internet, robots to help with tasks and computers to use artificial intelligence to make decisions. By studying factory data, companies can make products faster, cut waste and reduce environmental harm.
